New Website for the Collaborative Research Center at Ruhr University Bochum
The Collaborative Research Center SFB 874 at Ruhr University Bochum conducts research on neurological processes. To improve its public presence, the existing website was to be replaced with a modern content management system.
Challenge
Previously, content updates required manual editing of HTML files—a time-consuming and error-prone process. The new solution needed to allow content management without requiring technical expertise, enabling researchers and staff to easily add and maintain information. Additionally, the website’s design needed a refresh to ensure responsive, user-friendly access across mobile devices.
Solution
The website serves several key purposes:
- Presenting team members and their research objectives
- Announcing upcoming events
- Archiving scientific publications
WordPress, the content management system already in use at Ruhr University Bochum, was selected as the target platform. A custom WordPress theme was developed using PHP and JavaScript, designed to closely match the look and feel of the previous site while introducing modern functionality and responsive design.
